p.1 #1 · OM lenses with and without MC

A question to the Olympus OM lenses experts: Is there a noticable performance difference between the older non multi coated OM lenses and the newer MC lenses?

Similaly between the older Zuikos with a letter in front (e.g. F-Zuiko) and the newer ones without that letter?

When have those changes taken place?

I've found my single-coated types are more prone to flare with a light source in or near to the frame.

Other than that not really any noticeable difference in color, contrast or resolution.

My comparison is between a MC 21/3.5 and SC 24/2.8

not a huge difference between SC and MC versions. Generally the MC are a little less ghost-prone if shooting into direct light sources but it's a relatively minor difference.

I thought that all of the 21/3.5's were SC.

Similar performance, with the MC better for shooting into the light. Not a drastic difference, and very manageable if you use a lens hood.

Trivia alert: The 'H.Zuiko' or 'G.Zuiko' stands for the number of elements in any given lens.

H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, therefore H.Zuiko's have 8 elements
