Well with my new D700 coming next week, I thought I'd post this thread, for all you FF owners to share those High iso shots. I'm tacking 3200 and up Let the sharing begin
The guy just said he doesn't do any noise reduction in pp, because results are that good out of cam. I on the other hand with my D80 use NR software with my D80 when i have to use it over Iso 800. Why you'd need it? To make the images look like they have film grain, as opposed to coloured film grain(chroma noise)?
I suppose if you aren't going to make big prints then it shouldn't really matter. But as we all know, with digital, people love to view their images on their pc at 100%. So if you can make the image look better at higher Iso's (if you need to), then why not.
He was being Sarcastic. Mr. Francois has praised the ISO performance of his D300 & D700 when he got them. He knows exactly what NR is and doesn't like to use it either! Thats what I believe anyway.

Now why would you take a shot like this at high ISO? This is what tripods where made for.
ISO 1600 isn't high iso unless you're talking about film.

IMO opinion NR tends to give shots a plastic look anyhow.

Because i was with the kids at the park.... and it was getting dark, and i didn't have my tripod -- but did have my camera w/me.
I do have other images with tripod, but this thread specifically called for high ISO images
Plus a longer exposure on a tripod would have blured the birds which would have looked stupid.
