Mary is a friend of mine, not a model, but she dances... Super awesome girl to work with. 3 outfits and 5 hours later, here is what we came up with, let me know what you think!
The weird pose has her legs done to great appeal; I think if you were to shoot again, that would be a really good place to work from. The last also has this going for it.
In a couple her legs appear to be very mottled/hairy/grainy; notably the last and #6, I suspect it is a processing issue, but is really unflattering (and kills #6 IMO, which otherwise has potential)
Very nice set and a really cute young lady. That said I think the first two are toss-outs mainly for the unnatural and uncomfortable looking poses. Oh the horrid booties don't help, too bad she wasn't wearing the black heels with that outfit. Also she has a problem a lot of fair skinned young women have with very spider veined legs, I would help her out a bit with some PS there. 5 through 8 are really nice, well done.
#3 is gorgeous and would befit any fashion magazine! Good job on all of them. Agree with MrAdventure on the weird texture but I love that shot all the same.
4honor, you do a lot of great stuff. There are too many things good that I like about your work so I will only mention the bad.
IMO:
- #1, interesting pose but not doing it for me though.
- #2 is very awkward of a pose.
- #3, even though she has a great figure, the pose + shirt + maybe wind under the shirt makes her look pretty chunky.
A good series of shots with lots of variety, poses and expressions.
The shots where she gives us a full smile are my favs.
In #2, I see the shadow of the flash along her legs. It looks like camera mounted flash, turned to portrait orientation. If that is the case, try a flash bracket to tame the shadows or keep the camera in landscape and crop to get the portrait view.
In #6, I like how you used the doorway as a full frame. The downside is the low camera angle makes her head small in proportion to the rest of her body.
@ Paul Kierstead - Interesting, thanks! I do like legs, I try to show legs on models whenever I can. I am really hoping to shoot with her again! As for the mottled/hairy (ha ha) legs, that's all me in pp... doh! I can tell you that she has amazing legs!
@ mttran - Oh~ So we like the headshots here huh? Thanks!
@ davenfl - Thanks for the advice, I will spend more time on her legs next time. (That sounds dirty... ha ha!) And yeah, I will advice her to wear heels. As for the poses, I guess everyone has different taste. And what do you mean by the horrid booties? Not curvy enough? Maybe I posed her wrong? Please help.
@ MrAdventure - Ha ha! "Buttah" huh? Yeah, I didn't know if you guys would liked #6 with it's weird processing, but just thought I'd try something different. I promise you her legs are buttah!
@ LuckyOne - Umm... Natural light, with a 580EX II on camera at like -1 to -1 1/3 for fill flash. Thanks!
@ Emile Gregoire - Thanks! I loved that one too! Your advice is taken.
@ Weiyang Liu - Ha ha, thanks... I appreciate the critique! As for #3, I was trying to capture the wind blowing effect, so I guess it came over good enough... I will have her wear tighter clothes next time.
@ Mackowitz - Thank you! I am a face person, so I like to take headshots.
@ episkonte - Oh yeah, I like #7 a lot too! Glad #2 worked for you. Thanks!
@ Jim Rickards - I like her smile... And dang it, you photographers notice these little things! Ha ha... Yes, guilty as charged... flash on camera, rotated to portrait shot... Maybe I should have just cloned out the shadow... Thanks for the advice though~
@ DBPhotography - Ha ha! You are just being too nice... Now, tell me how you really feel...
=================
Since it seems like people like the headshots, I will try to pose more sometime tomorrow. Stay tuned. Thanks again!
3 has the best light by a long shot. i think you need to capitalize on beautiful light like this-- wish there was more like this in the set (is there?). i also like 8, cute shot and its quite flattering
@ Rhane - Thanks, good play on words... Yeah, I like "girl next door"!
@ SeanP - Thanks, there are more from this set, I will add more. Yeah, with a cute girl like this, it's hard to mess up... I can only pick out technical problems that I made in all the photos.
@ Pfiltz - Indeed! Can you please list which ones she looks wide in? That way I can avoid that pose next time. As for her hair, I do see some shine in a few shots, but I think what you are seeing if me messing up the shine in post. I may have contrasted it too much or something... Thanks though!
@ jwphotos - Umm... I don't think she has picked one yet... Not sure if she can decide For me, I think I like #3 the best, out of all photos (some that I didn't pose here). What about you?
She's easy to like, and you pose and light her well. A very nice addition to the series. Well done.
Notice that last shot where her elbow is overextended? Good thing to watch for and avoid.
12 & 14 are fav's.
