Wow Mike! I hope you made some money off that shot!
Thanks. No, never tried to sell it - but it's the desktop wallpaper on every computer I use. I think I have a large print of it someplace that I've been been meaning to frame, along with some nice balloon photos done with my D2x.
I'm looking forward to this year's balloon festival with the D700.

Couple more, all with D2h & 300/2.8 AF-S II. Used a Kenko 1.4 TC on the first one. Wish I'd have slowed down the shutter on the third to get some prop blur, but ... live & learn.

Well, my love for the D2H, my favorite camera, is still alive and well. I bought it listening to all those horror stories about its 4.1 megapixels, the meter problem, its "lousy" beyond ISO 400 performance and the infamous error shown in many models at first shot. I am happy to say that after 28 k shots, still not a problem.
The D2H will teach any photographer discipline. If you crop often your files, this camera is not your best choice. Its AF is incredibly fast and precise and if you need a machine gun while shooting, you just got it here too.
In the studio skin colors are superb. Colors in landscape photography are awesome. For action photography it is excellent and although I am not a high ISO shooter, I have used the camera at ISO 1600 without issues IF I overexposed slightly and used RAW files. If any questions, Noiseware does a beautiful job cleaning the noise and preserving excellent details.
It is a great tool and an excellent camera to have if personal protection is needed. Its files are small and easy to handle. I could spend the day just talking about this professional camera.
Those pictures are excellent and demonstrate the abilities of the camera and the photographers shooting with it. Enlargements to 20x30 are no issue with this camera.
For those who have sold it, buy another one and continue to enjoy it.

In general, I agree - but a D2h will surprise you at times.
Here's an original D2h frame and a cropped "poster" I made from it (I had originally designed it as a trading card). I printed the poster at 13x19 for the kid's mom, and it was great! (Name changed, of course...)

Oh let me play. My D2H story. I had a D70 but dropped it in a river while shooting eagles. Insurance covered replacement cost so I opted to get a used D2H instead. That was about 4 yrs ago, and it is still well used today.

Mine are gone too ... but of all the loves who's last name was Nikon .... the D2h brings the sweetest memories. Ahhh ... the color, the speed, the file size; just so right. Sob ... sniff .... it was only yesterday - it was so sweet.
I'm on vacation and away from any fresh D2h oldies so these are shot I think I may have posted before. Apologies for that.

I have the D3 and a D2Hs. Seems like I use the D2Hs about as much as the D3. I like the skin tones better and size and weight are a little less too. Best value on the used market right now.

These are the only two I have access to right now at work. This camera got me some of my best sports and general newspaper work. She was my best friend when I needed a bully of a camera. Once I was done with actual hard work, she was shelved then sold. I didn't like her at all of fun photography and completely preferred the D1H.
