The seller promised to ship in 2 days. He actually held the lens for a week. During this time, he did not respnd to inquiries via PM or email. (Although he was still posting other things for sale here.)
After a week with no response, I finally got a tracking number. The item had just shipped. No explanation (or apology) was offered.
I put shipping instructions in the PM about the sale and in the memo section of PayPal. I asked for the lens to be shipped to me at work so that it wouldn't lay around on my porch at home. He ignored the shipping instructions and shipped it to my home address anyway.
When I finally did get the box, I picked it up heard a "clunk" inside. Not a good sound. The Canon box was inside the shipping box and was well padded with paper. Unfortunately, the lens was inside the Canon box and the styrofoam packing was flipped the wrong way. The packing was not securely holding the lens. This allowed the lens to bounce around inside the Canon box.
In the end... the seller did come through. The lens arrived and I don't see any ill effects. However, I caution any future buyers.
