This ended up being a fantastic transaction and has lead me to recommend Jean-Yves to this community with the highest possible regard. The transaction started off well -- Jean-Yves provided me with outstanding responses to my questions (even when I was absent-minded and asked the same questions twice). We agreed on all the transaction details and I sent payment. The lens was shipped and it was just a matter of waiting for it to arrive. That was the problem -- it took forever to arrive.
We had agreed on four-day shipping. Jean-Yves sent me a tracking number and everything. But the expected delivery date came and went. And then another week came and went. During this time, Jean-Yves was nothing short of perfect. He looked into the process for filing an insurance claim and worked with the shipper to try to track the box in greater detail. He sent me at least one email each day providing me with an update on his progress and reassuring me that things would be worked out in time.
Amazingly enough, the lens showed up yesterday. It was perfect, just like Jean-Yves described. And the shipping label confirmed that it was sent when Jean-Yves said it was (not that I ever doubted him).
Honestly, I have no idea what happened to the lens between the originally scheduled delivery date and yesterday. What I can say without hesitation is that I wasn't worried. I knew that if the lens did not arrive, Jean-Yves was going to make things right. That's the mark of a great seller.
I feel very luck with have had the opportunity to work with Jean-Yves and would gladly do so again if the opportunity were to present itself. And I would recommend him to this community -- he's a true asset, a fantastic photographer, and a trustworthy seller.

Lens is in excellent condition, as advertized and performs well with good image quality. Shipping was fast, and communication went well. He went out of his way to get test images to me.

The lens took almost 2 weeks to come to Brian, even if I sent the insured package on a 4 days shipping. We don't know what happened with the lens, but fortunately it came in yesterday.

Tom was a great person to buy this lens from. The lens was well packed and arrived in excellent condition. In the lens box, the lens and hood looked like they were packed by Canon. The lens itself showed no signs of wear-as advertised. I would buy again from Tom and I highly recommend him as a seller to others.
