p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Imedion vs Eneloop

I recently needed to purchase some low-discharge batteries, but couldn't decide whether to buy Imedion or Eneloop. A web search turned up a couple of battery tests which indicated that the Imedion was the better battery. Not only does the Imedion have a better charge retention than the Eneloop, but it also has a higher capacity. In addition the measured capacity of the Imedion exceeds its advertised nominal capacity, but the measured capacity of the Eneloop is less than it's advertised capacity. Here are the tests:

I'm using Imedions on all my strobes and I've been very happy with them.

Anyone try the new Delkin 2300mAh low discharge batteries yet?

no, but I read somewhere that they're essentially the same output as the eneloops despite the 2300mAh claims.

I had a bunch of Immedions that would _not_ charge in my Maha 808 charger. (Immedions are made by Maha. Go figure.) The contacts seemed too short to create a circuit.

Thomas Distributing replaced them all with Eneloops for me, and I've been going strong with AAs ever since.

i have run into that same issue with some of their other batteries too. so much for international standards.

I thought the Imedion was the same as the Eneloop. Does someone other than Sanyo manufacture it? There are only limited number of manufacturers despite all of the brand names on the shrink label.

The Sony "Cycle Energy" batt's are rebadged Sanyo Eneloops. They've been working great for me, as have the Eneloops.

not exactly. the "cycle energy" is their rechargeable NiMh battery line which includes a eneloop type cell too called the "Blue".

I got some of the Uniross Hybrio lowloss as the others are hard to find and I'm hoping they give the same performance?

Strange--I have some Immedions from an early batch when they were first released. Charges fine on all my MAHA chargers--including an 808.

I also have the Imedions and also the 2700mAh Powerex ones...both are great IMO. Over on dslrusers.com there is a pretty good thread about them with some solid comparisons done also - rating both higher than Sanyo's Eneloops...

The differences in the charts for the low-discharge cells are rather small - certainly nothing to worry about. The question I have is how well the various cells perform after 2 years of use.

Well I got my impression from here...make of it what you will, as you said, much of a muchness really for most people I would imagine.

The inital post / comparison was linked from Servaas products down here in Australia. Jeff from Servaas posts with the same opinion on dslrusers.com, as do other members of that forum....
