For grins, shot with this lens on my IR modded camera. The 200mm f/2L is a decent IR lens... but I don't know what application there would be for it, other than maybe certain landscapes or portraits.

You've reminded me those two 200f1.8L, 1/2 hrs in my hands so sad . Well, i have to shutter with refurbished 70-200LII for now
Michael, if indeed that order goes thru and the lens is OK, then you've got yourself one super duper deal.
However, that extra 1 1/3 stop in nominal aperture makes one huge difference......200 f/1.8 lens is truly one of a kind. Similar to 50 f/1.0 which is also one of a kind.

Lars, I always love seeing your Thai people images too -
Some people prefer black + white imagery, and say that B+W is more expressive than color...
but I respectfully disagree. I like color myself, and you Sir - are a Master of color and portraiture. Lars + interesting subject + 200mm wide open = magic :-)
Sincerely,
Scott
PS: You should do a book - if you haven't already.
PPS: Lars, coincidentally after posting here, I watched a film on Netflix named 'Frida' (2002).
It really reminded me of your Thai portraits - full of life, art, color and exotic women.
The setting is Mexico, not Asia...but the parallels were striking. I bet you would really like
it - check it out. As a bonus, there is even some photography involved in the storyline :-)
