Just wondering if anyone in the wedding forum is using a Nikon 85mm f1.8 or an 105mm f2 DC?

would LOVE to see some samples of actual wedding pictures...thankkks!

side note: im working with the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 and a Nikon 50mm f1.4

need a sharp, nice bokeh telephoto lens.

Thanks again!

i use the 85mm 1.8 for all my work... portraits at weddings, seniors, families..

it's a good lens.. i sometimes wonder if I got a tack sharp copy ... but I love it.

it's prolly my favorite lens in my bag.

I also love my 85 1.8. I'm on a crop body (D300), so sometimes it's too close for my portrait work. But it's a great lens, and I often pull it out at receptions/ceremonies.

I had the 1.8, great lens but a little soft atleast my copy. I ended up upgrading to the 1.4 version.

Have the 85 1.8 on the D300. It is a very sharp lens and one of my favorites. Also have the 105 2.8 macro which may be even sharper but the length on a crop body can be tough some times.

I use my 85mm 1.8 on a D3 & D700. At 1.8 it's a bit soft but 2.0 and above it's great!

I use mine in reception halls all the time, no focusing issues (used with a mounted sb800/900) to report.

The 85/1.8 is absolutely amazing. In fact, I've found it to be sharper than the Canon 85L I used to use. The AF is very good even though it's an older AF type. This lens comes highly recommended. If you have the space, the compression comes in handy for portrait work.

85mm is one of the nicest focal lengths for portraits. I love mine, although I usually stick with 2.8 zooms for most weddings, it does get some use. It is my go-to lens for portrait sessions though.
