Here's another update on the Pembroke Pines (Florida) eagles that have yielded two chicks (Hope & Justice). Well, after a rough weekend with disastrous first flights, missing chicks, and blisteringly hot weather...I'm happy to say that both eaglets have flown back to the nest and continue to be watched over & fed by the parents. Hence this post is dedicated to 'Mama' & 'Papa' Eagle.
Also, here's the link to the volunteer Eagle watchers' blog. If you look at the top of the page, there's a great video of the 'disastrous first flight of the 2nd Eaglet (Justice). Look for the interesting behavioral shots of one of the adults after the chick 'crashed' through the trees.

Glad to hear the kids are fine, Omar. Nice job on the presentation of the interpersonal relationships of the parents

Thanks Mr. Zoom (Ken)...your comments & CC are always welcomed and appreciated! These have been the first eagles that I've ever seen up close...it's been quite an experience! It's no wonder eagle are refered to as being "majestic"!
Leave it to Will for the answer Good one Monk. Now eagles do not sweat and when hot they do just as you see in photo #1 and that is spread their wings and pant. They also look to get in the shade. Looking at some of the photos of the young eaglets I saw no bands and had to wonder if the State of Florida (second largest eagle population in the lower 48) did any banding?

That's a very interesting question Lou...I will try and find out from the Florida Wildlife Commision what their policy is on banding & tracking.
