I think on one end of the spectrum are so called "birders". They pursue 'collecting' of different species.......the more species, the rarer they are, the better.
On the other end of the spectrum are pure photographers. They make great images out of just about anything.
Most of us are somewhere in between those two extremes.
I'd suggest you hop to the Pixelshooter.com forum and check images made by Mao Ouyang. IMO he happily combines both aspects of bird and wildlife photography better than anyone I know.
You couldn't be more right Peter! Haha! I'll check out Chairman Mao. Thanks for the tip! I think next I'll try to get those "perfect" shots like you suggest!
I have an extremely busy weekend coming up ....I hvae to photograph a little league and then I have my PPA convention until Tuesday. Maybe I can find some nice birds in Atlantic City to shoot

The tortoise and the hare comes to mind Noelle can't afford to go to that Osprey well forever. It's starting to get interesting again!

Ya... yet another *yawn* osprey... Haha!! (I'm totally kidding Noelle) I know what she's going through though... I'm on a first name basis with the egrets and herons and orioles in that damn creek. I need more variety!
I mean I guess I've got red wing blackbirds, cormorants, pelicans, snowy egrets, ruddys, geese, harbor seal, squirrel, pijuns, surfers, kingfisher, terns, swallows, stilts, avocets, BCNH, GBH, hummers, hawks, ducks and one rare ivory billed woodpecker. (please remind me if I forgot to include anything)
Noelle on the other hand has her.... osprey. Oh and her Frankenstein egret. Hehe....
If you're going to be in Atlantic City, you should go right up the road (Route 9) to Oceanville where there's the Edwin Forsythe NWR! There's a really nice wildlife drive there where you can shoot osprey and herons, and geese and all kinds of other birds without even getting out of your car! You could probably shoot for a couple hours and get enough to "blow Conrad away" for a while!
Sorry, Conrad, but some times us "East Coasters" just have help each other out...

Chris
oooooo, East Coast vs. West Coast! IT'S ONNNNN! Like Donkey-Kong!
I've decided I am getting too old and slow reacting for that BIF photography stuff.
Therefore, I am switching to TIF....turtle in flight. So I can use 180L and such.
