p.1 #1 · First time shooting birds

Bought a 400mm f/5.6L from keh.com for a very good price and it came in the mail today. I could only get a few shots in because of time issues and my busy schedule, hopefully i will have loads of free time this weekend to shoot.

I think you are going to enjoy having that kind of reach for little birds, a 1.4TC will be a nice adder too Looking sharp and with good color, could you post a bit larger next time perhaps 800-900 on the long side

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new 'birding lens'

Will do. About the 1.4x, i plan on picking one up sooner or later, once i have money. I bought a 1d mark II from a guy on POTN for a very good price. (so good i couldn't say no, plus i had the money sitting around) I was also not satisfied with the autofocus in my 20d, it is very slow and inaccurate. I also acknowledge that a 1.4x+400 f/5.6 will autofocus on a 1d body. I plan on taking advantage of that on bright days, for it will limit me to f/8. I am also investing in a hide.
