I wasn't really thinking of the assignment when taking that shot, but then this person appeared and I thought it kind of conveyed the feeling of solitude, along with this gigantic abandoned metal structure...
Hope you like this image. Let me know if this works for you.
That's wild! Where is this place? The dune-ey looking sands below the elevated roadway give the scene a very isolated sort of feel. Reminds me of the movie Andromeda Strain, for some reason (don't know why, haven't seen it in decades).
I don't know that movie Jeff.
Thanks for the comments, it's always a pleasure to discover what people feel about an image.
This was shot yesterday in Coney Island. I like to go to the beach in winter.
Plenty of photographic opportunities in those deserted places. It's not actually a roadway, but a jetty.
This giant structure is a former parachute jump built in the 30s. Its story is pretty interesting: http://www.bayridge.com/jump.htm
Not really a guess. My friend grew up in NY and was looking over my shoulder at the time - btw, he loved the shot and said it brought back great memories. We'll have to check out the link.
Christo - this is a fine image. I really like the lines going on here. And like, Hadley, I think the airliner streak tops if off well. Well done and good luck!
