I think I came up with a simpler solution. (Maybe.)
I ended up pulling out the switch from my Nikon F-401x & it won't work. It keeps the focus circuit closed when you push it all the way to trigger. (Which makes sense, since the camera is probably focusing all the way to the trigger point . . . )
Anyway, I then decided I'll try to find some other switch.
Then I got to thinking . . .
If I have to get a switch anyway . . . why not get a double pole - double throw type switch.
Have the switch close the focus circuit on the camera with one "pole" & have the light circuit activated with the other "pole".
Simple. No IC. Shouldn't be any chance of the volt/amp from the light circuit getting into my camera, unless I hook this thing up wrong. <grin>
So, next time I am headed into Toronto, I'll pass by the electronics shops & ask them if such a beast exists and pick up a super bright LED and some resistors at the same time.
