So I just got my 1D(inosaur) on Ebay....WHAT A CAMERA!!! I'm hooked already!! This is my first foray into the 1 series cameras....I want to buy more NOW!!!! lol. Uh oh! So I'm starting to play and learn with it....saw my daughter this morning and it fits the theme perfectly. Hope you like....comments and critiques welcome....please!!
That is a terrific catch of expression, posture, and gesture, and good composition to boot.
It seems you're not only hooked, you're already making great use of the capabilities of your 1D!
Winning caliber entry - good luck!

The blurring looks a little unnatural to me. I presume you added it.
Yeah, when I first looked at this on an old laptop, that wasn't so obvious. Viewing on a good screen, the lower right corner really bothers me. I'm still blown away by the essential great qualities of the shot, and I hope you'll consider restoring the out-of-camera look of the foreground. If you added to the background blur as well, that's not so obvious and looks natural, but the edges of the bed and computer don't work.
Thanks David....ya I just started some courses and I have that expression lots I'm sure!!
Steve, ya I'm having loads of fun...will be on again soon...need more critiques!! I'm working on my website. Thanks for the comment.
Thank-you john...and you were close...it's a D630! .
Photon and Trojanhorse, thanks for the comments, I appreciate the honesty!! I have changed to the untouched version...I just thought it had a little too much background clutter. But it still has the same impact. Thanks again!
I like it better. To me, a domestic scene like this is not harmed so much by the background clutter, as it gives a feeling of gritty reality. I would have shot with a wider aperture to soften the background in camera, but the shot you have is best without the manipulation you originally tried.
I have to agree with all the positive comments of the posters on this thread. Excellent capture. But I'm torn about the background. IMHO it does feel a little cluttered. Perhaps a more subtle blur, kept away from the computer might work. Anyway, it's a great image.
