You know, the only time the bride freaked out was when someone told her one of the cameras failed. After I told her that I had 6 cameras total (between my 2nd and I) for the day

All you noobs who think you can take paying gigs with one Rebel and a kit lens, take heed.

When I only had two bodies, I still packed at least one film camera with plenty of 35mm film. Now, I get anxious if I don't have a 2nd shooter to cover something I may miss.

Funny, I didn't relax last night until I had D/L'd the photos onto at least two hard drives and had my CF cards in a safe. A little alarmist, but after this weekend, I don't think anyone would blame me.

The word of the day: Redundancy...
Used in a sentence: Make sure you have built plenty of redundancy into your camera bag system.

Terrance,

Glad to see you were able to handle each situation and still keep a sense of humor, kudos!

OMG, I thought that carrying one backup was a safe bet... (I'm a second shotoer), but I think that I need to get duplicates of everything!!!

Great story, I can relate the most to the car bit, but I can't wait to see the pictures!!!

Amazing. Just visit Chicago next time to see the snow and stay out of Lake Arrowhead.

This sounds like a National Lampoons flick.
Chevy Chase would be perfect to play this role.

Glad it all worked out in the end.

Is this one of those wedding you really wished you hadn't booked?
At least no one was hurt, and you got the job done. Yvette

Actually, it was one of those weddings that I had been looking forward to for a while and wasn't planning on making much from. I had never been to Lake Arrowhead and my wife grew up in the area (Highland) so we took the money we were making from it and turned it into a vacation. We stayed longer than the bridal couple at one of the nicest resorts I've been to in a long time, did some shopping (my wife got a Coach bag finally!), I got to go shoot whatever I wanted, and we got room service a few times. After overhead (house/pet sitters are expensive!), gas, and food, we were going to break even on this one which we were fine with.

I'd regret it if my truck got really trashed but I already had a mechanic take a look at the wipers and the motor was fine - a bolt got stripped and it took him all of 5 minutes to fix it and he didn't charge me.

At the end of it, the entire event cost me a flash cord (about $20?), some scratches on my hood, and about $40 for three wiper blades (that includes the one that was launched across the 5 freeway). I should include the cost of the lotto tickets that I, sadly, didn't win anything from.

and this is why Professional Photographers will always need alittle extra backup equitment and the desire to capture the moment, no matter what the conditions!

Good stuff lol, Congrats to surviving and getting the job done. and be glad you atleast had the 4x4 some of us are still rolling in hondas( 38mpg+ ). for that wedding i would have to get a land rover rental!
