Took the 5D2 out with me the last few days and used it like I would use my mark3 to see how it preformed. I would say it's not up to the bang bang task of shooting in flight birds but it does hold it's own for the kind of camera it is. It does seem to track birds really well in center point with expanded points on. I used the 500 with a 1.4 tc on for most of these. C&C always welcome, Thanks for looking, Ron
I think you made that rig proud Ron. Maybe it doesn't have the machine gun bursts you guys are accustomed to but you sure know how to use it buddy #1 is a lively neat shot, #2 is wonderful and maybe as a 'nit' a tad dark in the 'darks' IMO #3 rocks for me, wonderful full frame with great detail and lovely color and you shot the 'nose hole' Great in-flights and a nice Nuthatch/sack So #8 is looking for its Nello and the one on the right just looks like there is something hanging out
Ron................great stuff, very diverse posting and I liked them all sir!
You made that 5DII sing with these captures, Ron. Did you get any sequence with in focus shots? I also like the IQ of thet camera, and I believe it shows it best in the last two shots.
Socrate
Socrate, It really does a good job in sequence shooting but with the 3+ fps it's a bit slow for flying birds I think, If it's all I had I would be very happy with it though. If you do fill the frame it does have some amazing detail. Ron
Here is a full size image of number 5 to show how much cropping I did
These all look great Ron.
2, 3, 5, and the Nutsack are tops for me in your excellent series.
IQ is awesome from the 5D2... would never have guessed #5 was that much of a crop.
Excellent work.
Ron, don't you read the Canon Forum? They will tell you that the AF is too slow, and the fps is too slow, and that the 5D's (either) are not any good for BIF's. Also the camera only has 9 focus points.
While I will agree that a 1D mark III is better suited for the job it still doesn't mean that the 5D's can't do it. As you have proven so well. Thanks for showing these.
