using my 1ds2 and a zeiss planar t* 50mm/1.4 ZF with a fotodiox adapter and I get an err 01 (bad communication with the lens). Lens and adater work fine on a 40D -- I assume I am doing something wrong. Any clues / help will be appreciated
I'm guessing that the adapter either has the 'pin', or does not have the necessary knockout on the bayonet, hence is depressing the microswitch as scenario #2 suggests. Another idea is that the bayonet by the microswitch position is a hair too long, and is striking the microswitch. You say that by rotating the lens back a smidge, all works fine?
Remove the adapter from the lens and mount the adapter just on the body itself. Does it look like anything is depressing the microswitch?
i have concluded that the "fin" on the adaptor is too long and needs to be shortened. I did mount the adapto on the camera sans lens and the button is being depressed
