I call #1 "En Garde!" or however it is spelled.
With all of the photos of Black Skimmers I have seen on this forum I believe I have only seen one that is actually skimming. Why? When fishing in Florida on the rivers it was always a beautiful sight.

"En Garde!" is close enough for me, Lynn
With regards to the skimmers skimming, the real answers is that they don't always skim. Sometimes they just fly and other times they just sit around in little colonies socializing. Also, getting a good shot of a skimmer skimming is a bit challenging and when the opportunity presents itself you have to have a good shooting angle and lighting conditions to capture them right - a somewhat difficult subject to master. That said, here's a couple to whet your whistle on..... http://ken.smugmug.com/photos/390585006_PyH7w-L.jpg http://ken.smugmug.com/photos/343589427_u5UtE-L.jpg
Another very nice series, no surprise.
Very cool side lit landing Willet in #2.
#4 is hilarious and very well done.
8 and 9 are great IF shotz, with 8 being my fave of the whole set.
I like #12 of the two Killdeer.. no idea on the camera D300
Great series Ken, awesome light and exposures, excellent comps, and super sharp as always.
Kirk
Thank Kirk, I do like shooting that early morning light and exploiting the BGs to enhance it. #12 was taken with the obsolete and ancient old Digital Rebel XT. I had to give it a little viagra but it's still going strong
Back to the shots Z M, I am just too tired to go through each one of them, I'm inclined to like #8 best and the uniqueness of #4 and its lovely BG You do know how to play the light to your adavantage and it shows, nice Mr Z and you can make any camera look good so #11,12 made no diff to me one way or the other buddy
