Hello everyone,
Well, I just received my copy of the Zuiko 18/3.5 and am really excited to start using it.
For those who don't know, I won the copy with the cleaning marks on the front element that was relisted and sold about two weeks ago. Here is the link:
Anyway, there definitely is a noticeable loss of contrast, a little worse than I was anticipating.
I was wondering if cleaning the front element of these marks is something I would be capable of, or would I be better off sending the lens to someone at Zuiko.com or focalpointlens.com? I haven't done much as far as disassembling and reassembling cameras or lenses.

I would try to get that front lens element changed if parts are available! Email zuiko.com, he's promptly replied to all of my questions. I don't have experience with the other company mentioned.

^Thanks for the suggestion,.
Would you happen to know the actual email address?
Each time I click on the link to try and email them, a pop up comes up prompting me to setup a Yahoo Mail Plus account, which I have no interest in doing right now.
If replacing the front element is under $200, I will definitely go with them. Repolishing and recoating from focalpointlens.com would cost me $275 + return shipping...

No spectacular scenery here, just some test shots of a fence at the back of my acreage with the Oly 18 on my previous 5D. Pretty amazing what this little bugger can deliver:

Nice! Love the colors. I have not been shooting much the last month or so. Been busy renovating the kitchen. Man I am tired now...
Thanks, good luck with the kitchen. Hope to see you onboard soon.

Just shipped out my 18/3.5 to John @ zuiko.com
Preliminary estimate is $219 to replace to front element. After using Pro Rush Option 2 (5-8 day turnaround), it will still be cheaper than focalpoint and I will get it back much faster (Focalpoint would take anywhere from 4-12 weeks).

Finally - found an Oly 18mm for a good price! Bought a photodiox adapter for it and it is CRAP! The connection btw the lens and adapter has a lot of play. Ordered one from HappypageHK, so I've got my fingers crossed that it works as well as the couple I bought for my c/y lenses.

Man, I used all of my OM lenses with several of the consumer Photodiox adapters and they were superb.
