I use a polarizer quite often with the lens. Mine is a 72mm slim type from B&W and does not cause vignetting when mounted on the original hood. I did however loose it and have been using a regular 77mm with a 72-77m step-up ring. It does vignette and requires cropping (or cloning if you're lucky) to work. My guess is that most 72mm slim filters will work.

The first shot is completely mis-scanned, so I have to take it back to the lap. It is centered much better on the slide, but they cut off the top and left side.

It looks like the word painted in the star is not INRI (from the Latin for "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" - the inscription which Pontius Pilate placed on the cross above Jesus at His crucifixion), but instead it looks like the Hebrew word for God's Name. In the Latin alphabet the letters are YHWH (written right to left in Hebrew) and it is believed to be pronounced Yahweh, though members of the Jewish religion don't pronounce the name for fear of breaking the Second Commandment.
I apologize for going off topic for a moment, but just for your information, YHWH is the Name that God revealed to Moses from the burning bush. INRI and YHWH are similar to Christians because we believe that Jesus is YHWH and reigns as King over all, though the names have different connotations. This is why you sometimes see the Hebrew name for God depicted in Christian churches.

You shoot enough film to justify your own film scanner Nate. Great shots btw.
I agree that I shoot enough to justify a film scanner, but I also hate scanning enough to not buy one. I've had too much bad luck with the scanners I've had in the past and until very recently these lab scans kept me pretty happy. After I sell off some gear I'll seriously start looking at a Coolscan, but I really don't want to use anything other than the Nikon software for it and I'm not sure it will run on my my Mac.

Fair enough... I got lucky with my minolta 5400 first time. Runs a dream and gets great images, preferably with vuescan. They can be had for a song these days and are great IQ wise if you only shoot 135.
