I think it was a good deal. You got a good adapter and the 49-72 hood.

Nice, good show. That price wasn't bad, esp. since it came with the 49-72. You could sell it and recoup your $ if you don't like it, I am sure.

Hi

Bit of a thread bump. The 18 arrived today, seems okay bit of play nothing to serious hopefully. Focusing ring is a little tighter that my other Zuikos too.

Will get some shot up as soon as i get a change between the awful British weather,

Lee :-)

Thanks both.
I like this lens a lot but I don't use it as much as it deserves. The last 3-4 vacations since the shot from Austria last year have been with a Canon 16-35mm. A bit strange since I love to work with the lens.
Look at these poppies.

Both with 5D1.

How much would such a lens be worth today? It has only slight wear on the barrel and comes with the original 49-72mm adapter?

Nice ones! Love the first.

I would say around 650 Euros. Maybe more depending on where and how you sell it.

I got one a few weeks ago, need to decide whether or not it is worth the premium over the 21
I've only been able to get a few shots with it while walking my son.
Here's a couple shots on a 5D

Hi

My new to me 18 seems rubbish, focus ring is stiff, not very accurate and it seems cloudy(not sure of the technical term) when looking through the back of the lens. Overall i am gutted. I am wondering if it is possible or cost effective to try and get it serviced or repaired. I am in the UK so not sure where or who to contact. I have emailed Olympus but that might be a waste of time.

Sorry for the thread bump.

Lee

Try Camtech, the guy is really good, and has very reasonable prices. He serviced one of my lenses, I am considering sending him more, but multiple lenses being serviced adds up.

2nd the nomination for John Hermanson (Camtech). He's the only person I'd trust to service this. He has spare parts for some older OM lenses, including some lens elements. If anyone can clean it up, it would be him. It's definitely worth getting fixed, I think - value is low, otherwise. I think he charges $150 or so for a full service ? Check his site...

Hi

Thanks for the information. I have had an email of Olympus and the have recommended a company. I also contacted a shop in Liverpool who will inspect the lens for me, its about an hours drive, so might try them - plus its an excuse for a togging session.

Cheers

Lee

Man, $150 for full service. I'd be broke if that was what my local repair man charged. He's fixed and repaired so much of my gear I've lost track. US $50 a pop...
