Thanks both.
I like this lens a lot but I don't use it as much as it deserves. The last 3-4 vacations since the shot from Austria last year have been with a Canon 16-35mm. A bit strange since I love to work with the lens.
Look at these poppies.

I got one a few weeks ago, need to decide whether or not it is worth the premium over the 21
I've only been able to get a few shots with it while walking my son.
Here's a couple shots on a 5D

Hi
My new to me 18 seems rubbish, focus ring is stiff, not very accurate and it seems cloudy(not sure of the technical term) when looking through the back of the lens. Overall i am gutted. I am wondering if it is possible or cost effective to try and get it serviced or repaired. I am in the UK so not sure where or who to contact. I have emailed Olympus but that might be a waste of time.

Sorry for the thread bump.

Try Camtech, the guy is really good, and has very reasonable prices. He serviced one of my lenses, I am considering sending him more, but multiple lenses being serviced adds up.

2nd the nomination for John Hermanson (Camtech). He's the only person I'd trust to service this. He has spare parts for some older OM lenses, including some lens elements. If anyone can clean it up, it would be him. It's definitely worth getting fixed, I think - value is low, otherwise. I think he charges $150 or so for a full service ? Check his site...

Hi
Thanks for the information. I have had an email of Olympus and the have recommended a company. I also contacted a shop in Liverpool who will inspect the lens for me, its about an hours drive, so might try them - plus its an excuse for a togging session.

Man, $150 for full service. I'd be broke if that was what my local repair man charged. He's fixed and repaired so much of my gear I've lost track. US $50 a pop...
