You're welcome John.

Just remember these hardworking event photographers when you hook up with the venture capitalists for your initial round of funding! Maybe send Hammy, luketrot, and John Patrick a copy of the program to use for further field implementation research and development.

And we'll all say we knew you back when...

Well I have completed the version of this program and submitted it for my senior project. The implementation is fairly complete and works in Vista. If anyone is interested in it send me an email at extremetrek 'at' yahoo 'dot' com and I will be send you the installer so you can try it out. Should there be any interest I would be happy to continue development to plug any holes anyone finds. If not, I still thank those of you who helped me choose this project, it was very enjoyable and taught me much about the art of windows programming.

Any chance it works in XP?

Ryan

I know Hammy is slammed at the moment and might not have read this yet, but I am sure he would be willing to check it out too.

It will work in XP...it just won't be quite as pretty (User Interface wise) as it is in Vista. The feature set as implemented is essentially the ability to select folders containing image files and have the software extract the images and randomize them into a slideshow. You may add a banner to the show (Left, right, top and bottom). You may include advertisements within the show as well. The slideshow detects only the orientation in which the image file is saved, auto rotation is still in the works and may be implemented shortly. The slideshow displays portrait oriented images 2 abreast (standard screen) or 3 abreast (widescreen). The program also monitors a single folder for images being added and will add them to the show as they are added to the folder.

You may also create global settings and save them in a settings file for later use...this include an image folder, a banner, a marketing advertisement and all show timings. I am working on responding to the emails I already have and if anyone else is interested let me know!

I've uploaded a zip file containing the user guide and setup file. This will work on XP Service Pack 2 or newer. You may need to upgrade to the latest version of the .NET framework (v3.5) and the installation should prompt you to do so if that is required.

BE SURE TO INSTALL FROM THE SETUP.EXE FILE!

Keep in mind this is a brand new student project. I wouldn't recommend using it in professional settings until you have thoroughly tested it. I am willing to improve and add features to it if people are interested. Also keep in mind this is not a commercial venture and is intended solely for the edification of my learning process.

Please contact me via email if you have any comments or questions!

Very nice. I have a few suggestions which I will e-mail to you. Mostly fairly minor stuff, with a list of harder items that would be nice as well.

However, as it is, it's 95% useful. Just a few minor tweaks and you have a nice product.

John A not John P. I tried to send you an email but I guess I sent it to John P instead.

The suggestion I made to you about exporting to a .mov file, well how about a mpeg4 or mobile format or something along those lines instead of .mov. (this tip goes to Tim I can't take ALL the credit)

Fotoplayer is the one we use. We looked at all of them and Fotoplayer worked the best and did not cost too much.
