Thanks Floris.. I have always wanted to learn how to do stacked images
and I love star trails so this just might be the ticket to me finally learning
more PS and and how to do Star Trails... Thanks MUCH for the time and

Thank you not often do we get stars to shoot in my area and because of this post I plan to try tonight. My only worry my arms are going to get tired holding the camera still for that long
I have been trying repeatedly to get my TC-80N3 to work, getting multiple frames. It would not work. It WOULD do multi frames, but not with long shutter settings.
Blah, blah, blah-- The single most imporant line in this amazingly full tutorial(that I CAN'T Say enuf thanks for) is "For the TC-80N3 you’ll need to set the time between exposures to 1 second (it doesn’t shoot multiple exposures if you leave it at zero).
Maybe I missed it through out the comments, but this weekend I tried shooting for sevveral hours, but under closer examination, I find that my stars are not focused quite correctly. Are there any tips or pointers for this?
Fantastic tutorial. My current camera (D80) can't take star trail shots because it is too noisy. Maybe someday. In the meantime, I will experiment with your idea of shooting out-of-focus stars to complement twilight shots.
