I wanted to let you all know that my mom is doing well physically, but mentally, not as sharp as she use to be. With her being physically stronger, she is now more mobile and I have been helping her even more with physical therapy, and making sure she is not overdoing things. With her memory (mainly short term stuff) it is very stressful for both of us, but she will forget that she can not do something, or forgets that she just did something. It is a strain hearing the same story that I just told her 4 times in 10 minutes, but that goes with 84 years old.
Combined with that and little to no assistance from my siblings, I am pretty worn out with work and taking care of mom. I did shoot the Great Alaska Shootout, and I got to do a lot of Palin stuff that was picked up all over Europe. I was the team photographer for a new ABA basketball club that just folded before their first game was ever played (yeah, like I will get paid for all that work), and with almost a 10 days of -20 degree weather, I am wiped.
I want you all to know I really love this site and feel that you all are a great group of photographers, and I want to see this site and you as photographers continue to grow, but as moderator, I am no longer a benefit to the site, and I have tendered my resignation to Fred. I just do not have the energy to volunteer with the Sports Corner anymore. I hope to soon be able to start posting again, but right now I am focusing on taking care of mom and paying my bills.
Completely understandable, Carl. In my mind, this place is your legacy, and a damn good one at that. Your priorities are where they should and need to be. Hang in there, and kick your siblings in their respective asses when you have the strength. Hope to see you back here before too long.

Carl, at times one has to deal with priorities in life that are just damn overwhelming and stressful. Went thru it with my mother and I know what you are going thru. Hang in and just keep on doing the right thing for all concerned.

Carl, You have always been an inspiration to me and I appreciate all of your hard work here. When things get tough for me I figure that someone upstairs thinks I must be strong enough to shoulder the load. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you out.
Carl, I tip my hat to you. To take care of your mother, run a photography business and be a moderator here is more than most people could handle. You've done an outstanding job.
Carl, you have been an unbelieveable inspiration to me on this board. Your work is amazing but this shows me you are an amazing person as well. A man that puts his family first, whether it's his wife and kids, or his parents, is much more the man I want to learn from than just another photog. Thanks for all you have done.
Carl, your mom comes first. Your service to this forum has been invaluable. I hope things work out for you and your mom. My positive thoughts go out to you and your mom.
Carl, thanks for all the support you've provided here. It is appreciated and probably doesn't get said enough. right now, you have your priorities right. Take care of mom and stop by here when you have some time.
