p.1 #1 · Windows 7 - how to install missing drivers
Hi guys
I've been testing Windows 7 recently (I've made another other post in this forum on the results I've had).
In spite of on or two "sceptics" saying this is Vista service pack 2 that is DEFINITELY NOT the case.
It does as I've posted in my other post run significantly better than either XP or Vista even on relatively modest hardware that would test Vist to the limit.
However you might find some drivers missing -- most work but there are one or two missing. For example I still have an epson 1290 printer for which even epson doesn't provide any Vista drivers. However the driver is built into VISTA and you can extract it (and any other drivers) with a little FREE utility tool called
drivermagician lite available from here :
You don't need the PAID version. To restore / copy the VISTA driver into your new system run the add new hardware wizard and just point the browser to the INF file from the backed up version). 99% of the VISTA drivers will work. Be aware however that systems in general need to be compatable -- both 64 bit or 32 bit.
Very useful tool especially for non Microsoft drivers installed on your system.
Note also you might get a few problems if you need to connect a 32 bit system to a printer on a remote 64 bit system but that's another issue.

Kyle, I responded to your other post. The drivers from Vista will work well because Windows 7 is a re-write of Vista. MS just wanted to get away from the bad name that Vista has picked up.

Yeesh. Extracting drivers and such just to get the OS to work properly - the way it should, out of the box. I am so happy I switched to OS X a couple of years ago. Microshaft can go pound.

Vandit
How does Photoshop CS4 64-Bit run on that OS X machine?
