you have really sharp eyes to see something like this! the fact that you put it there and made this comp work is a skill in itself and makes me even respect you more!
lol! i always tell people how i did something or where i shot something when asked. i've met quite a few landscape photographers who are the exact opposite, i.e., you ask them and they speak vaguely as if like a kid who don't want to share - i just roll my eyes and move on whenever i hear that stuff given to me.
I love the composition and subject, but the way I see this image is that its an intimate Landscape, and also an abstract of nature.
For me.. its far to soft. I feel it needs to be much sharper and show the details in both the leaf and the ice. To my eye it just blurs together to much, and needs more seperation in both detail of the leaf and the background ice. A real sharp leaf against the bluish ice would work very well.
I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, as I feel the image is very strong, but it just lacks that little bit that would have made it outstanding.

I appreciate your honest critique, Nigel. I may not make the changes people suggest, but I ALWAYS listen. It is extremely difficult to see my own work through the eyes of another, but I try to do that if I can. I read every comment carefully, in search of ways to improve my work. I am not hurt by criticism - it means a lot to me that people will take time from their busy lives to help me improve my work. So, thank you.
Thanks to all of you. Your words really do make a difference.
