p.1 #1 · Sigma 70-200 2.8 HSM EX Macro on D700

I am looking at picking up LNIB Sigma 70-200 2.8 for sports. It will get used on my D300 but I want to use it on my D700 as well. Does anyone know if the Sigma 70-200 EX HSM macro version is considered a "DX" lens, meaning the D700 would crop it to 5Mpx? Thanks.

No, its a regular full frame lens. Sigma recently released a mkII version of this lens. I currently own the mkI for canon and seem to have a rare properly focusing example. Therefore I must warn you to look out for any focusing problems. Mine at least works flawlessly and produces stunning pictures.

I have heard of issues with the MkI (macro version) so I may be better off gathering the extra money for the Nikon 80-200 2.8. Thanks for the info though!

If you're going to shoot sports, get the Sigma unless you can find the (rare) 80-200 AF-S. It's much faster focusing than the 80-200 AF-D (note there's focus performance differences with versions of the Sigma, the older version with the aperture ring is noticeably slower, but still faster than the 80-200 AF-D)

I got some sample photos from the 70-200 and it appears to be LNIB and a good price. I have been unable to find a decent priced AF-S Nikkor 80-200 hence the inquiry on the Sigma 70-200. Thanks for the info.

I have had two sigma 70-200, one for my canon 30d and now one for my d700. Both have focused flawlessly, quick and.. well, better than one can expect

I have the early one, non DG. The focus got wacko, and Sigma USA, just replaced a printed circuit board. The focus is now , right on, on my Canon 30D.
Cheers
