there's too much talent on this site to list, so i won't-lately, i'm taking a cue from evan and studying a lot of non-wedding photographers (fashion and portrait) instead, such as Karsh, Avedon, Seidner, and Liebovitz-i'm finding it gives me a fresher perspective rather than staring at other photographers' weddings and trying to emulate those
There's this really famous guy called Dawei who's really good
Seriously though, there are so many no name photographers who are really good, I'm wowed by random photographers I come across all the time.
I'm in Australia and Studio Impressions is really good, I really like the fashion type stuff Yervant does, the feel of David Oliver's images, Jerry Ghionis, and I always take the time to check out Sam and Ed's work here, as well as many other photographers.
While there are MANY wonderful, great and inspirational wedding photographers here, Sam Hassas gets my vote. I think I might be developing a man-crush.
I admire and am inspired by all kinds of photographers. First I will say that Evan is probably one of the most inspiring photographers around because he is so low-key, yet his work is simply amazing. It's not just great wedding photography -- it's really great commercial work. I also like how he thinks deeply about what he is trying to accomplish.
Also love the various styles we see here and how much all these photographers make me think: Sam, Mel, Spence, Hoffer, Schreiber, Italo, Ed Pignol, Jason, Daniel (Radioblurs), Ray & Erwin, Katie Disimone, etc. I wish I could name everyone. Each person has a style that is inspirational in its own right.
Non-FM photographers who I admire:
Yervant
David Beckstead
David Williams
Susan Stripling
Cliff Mautner (would love to go to his workshop in Philly)
and more
I love photography because two people could stand in the same place with the same camera and even the same lens and still come up with two completely different shots.
Anyway, I have been looking at more non-wedding photographers as well. Right this very second I'm completely spell-bound by the photographer who shot Lance Armstrong's portraits for Outside Magazine. Wow. I'm not sure if it's the January or February issue, but we got it this week.
Seriously one of the best photographers I've seen has got to be Kevin Russ. The man is incredible. He doesn't even shoot weddings! He has, and they were beautiful.
