Mado,
This is a lovely shot. The color and shape of the branches (weeping willow?) add a great deal.
About the horizon: The top of the snow seems to be the horizon, but is not. The opposite side of "your" lake is the true horizon. It might be a teeny bit off, but not much.
About the man seeming to ignore you but the dog is not, that's hilarious. I can imagine you saying, "Honey, don't look at me." And like a dutiful husband, he doesn't. I can also imagine you saying, "Fido, don't look at me." And I can imagine Fido looking right at you when you speak and wagging his tail. He's no doubt wondering why you don't rejoin the family. He knows that if he stares at you long enough, you will.

Well Charlie, this is exactly what happened. Also, I believed that the horizon line is all right. Mado
