Great stuff as always! What lens were you using on #3?

Lovely.

Can I ask you about lighting... at the reception. How did you do it?

Thanks! We use a number of different techniques for receptions, so let me know what shot in particular and we can explain.

Zach - #17 & 19 are fantastic man! Normally lighting from underneath doesn't produce pleasant results on those of us who aren't models, but the end product is really eye catching!

Totally! It takes a lot of practice to nail it in the camera, but I think it adds a great non-portrait look to action during the reception and is something different than the old "paparazzi" drag shutter shots that everyone seems to do. Sometimes it does not work well depending on what the floor is made of. You also need either a good secondary light or some good light from the lighting company to make it 3d.

i really like #2 (make up shot)-unique and well composed

also really like #12 (bride with wind blown veil)-serendipitous comes to mind-great catch and capture

not as crazy about the groomsmen shots-they look like they're going for "cool" but just not hitting it (referencing the first 3 groom/groomsmen shots)-i don't mean that as a shot at you or the groomsmen, but it feels forced (as always, i could be way off )

We were definitely going for cool and nailed it! Though they have little to do with the actual wedding and were all set up, they really wanted them bad and we got em!

I should say I LOVE your light composition and techniques. You're one of the very few photographers that can grab a zoom lens and work it to it's max levels. I love the new watermark and these are first class shots all the way! I'd love to go to your workshop if you're anywhere close to south FL or Italy someday

Loving every shot apart from number 1. As a girl I cringed straight away as its pinched in and not very flattering. She is most definitely not a big girl, nowhere near, she's got a lovely figure, but the dress looks like it wasn't dont up right or properly fitted as it shouldn't pinch in at the waist and the bow out again.

j&j,

My fav #5&9.

Are you using 580's or studio lights for your receptions? #18 show your lights in the background.

Thanks,

Mike

I think these all look really great. The only one that made me go "Hmmm..." was the second shot - of the makeup artist.

We are actually using a combo (at the reception) of 580's and mono-lights. The big one in the background is the studio strobe, and the I am lighting the front with a 580 off camera.

Thanks!

Thanks man! Most of these are just the jpg's from the slideshow we did at the weddings, so the finals will be a bit different. We had a blast with these guys!

We really love your work too by the way!

Good stuff Zach, I really like how you've started working with the under-lighting at receptions. Its interesting and different, and you're executing it well.

Agree with everybody else. This is a really nice set. Are you bouncing it off the floor or holding a slave flash in-hand low for the under lighting?
