This is not only my favorite sports photo of 2008, it's one of my favorite sports photos of all time. It's from the Texas Independence Relay, a 204 mile relay race. On the morning of the start of the race I knew I had an environment I always wanted to shoot in. A few miles down the road I found the exact location I wanted to shoot from. Just perfect. This is the second runner on our team (he's now an Ironman). This photo came out almost exactly as I had it in my mind's eye and has almost no post production.

Way overdue for contributing on the Corner with you guys-- today seems like a good day to attempt to turn that around. Hope everybody's having a fun and safe New Year...
This one's probably not my overall favorite of the year, but one that popped into my head first:
July 2, 2008, Yountville, Calif-- One of my son's teammates hook-slides home for a run in game 1 of the Legion State Championship Tourney:
Tom,
Great stuff my man ! You have some impeccable timing around the diamond...... although your horizon is slightly askew. JK
I shot this less than a week after picking up my first 1D series camera(MKIII). I knew I had the opportunity to create a pretty big file so I used a vertical composition and panned through @ 75mm to stitch 16 images together. The resulting file has a dimension of 8520X3316.
For perspective, from the top of the jump to the sign was 85ft, they were landing between 100-120ft from takeoff.
