I am looking to buy a 70-300mm lens for a Canon Rebel xti. I was hoping I could get a couple references. Also, are there any another brands that are cheaper that I would be able to use with this particular camera?
What kind of references are you looking for? Online shop to buy or recommendation if the lens is any good. Besides Canon you will find some third market lens makers that make comparable lens for the Canon. Brands such as Tamron, Sigma, Tokina are just a few. Google is your friend.
Yea...you may want to be more specific. I'm actually borrowing a friends 75-300 right now just to play with it. He's got the entry level version without IS etc. I will say I personally would not buy it myself. The AF seems really slow for me and this lens is practically useless indoors. Outdoors does fine but its that...... just fine. Its a practical lens to learn on but if you want pro quality look elsewhere.
