Thanks for the comment. The photographers can step right up to the water's edge, the Ospreys usually dive somewhere out in the middle of the pond (far away), but sometimes if we're lucky they'll dive pretty close to where we're standing. The trick is to be able to read their behaviors, knowing when they're about to make a move, then make adjustments to your location (a tripod would slow you down... a lot).
