Hi Karl
As a member of a family of 6 with number 6 being our dog I can truly sympathize with you. I'm sorry for your loss I'm sure you have many fond memories of the last 10 years.
You guys and gals are the best, thanks so much for filling my heart with your sympathy and compassion. I realize I surely am not alone in this situation and it brings tears to my eyes to also hear of your losses and memories.
Many many many thanks for all taking a moment to comment and share, I really appreciate it as it has helped tremendously.
I'm so sorry for your loss. That picture of Bailey is just beautiful.
You did the right thing. Prolonging her suffering for your own sake would have been wrong. She was very fortunate to have such a loving, caring owner.
I had the make the same decision for my Golden Retriever Zack years ago. He had osteogenic sarcoma and within one month of diagnosis, I knew it was time.
He still lives in my heart and thoughts to this day.
Karl, I doubt that there is anything that anyone can say that can ease the heartache you feel for the loss of Bailey. But, rest assured that many of us here are animal lovers and can empathise with you for your loss. Also know that you have many friends on this forum who genuinely care.
Thank you for posting Bailey's photo and for sharing your loss with us. God Bless.
So sorry for your loss. Dogs are so much more then pets to many of us.
They become part of our families and lives and it is so very hard to loose them.
God Bless,
Karl , Im very sorry for your loss. But do find solace in knowing you provided Bailey with a wonderful life and a great amount of love.
When i had to put down one of my beloved pets a few years ago someone sent this poem to me, i hope it cheers you as it did me
Dave
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
I notice it was posted above but its so nice i posted it for you again
As you know I'm in Florida, but I wanted to take some time to leave quick comment so you know I'm thinking about you through these tough times for you and yours.
I'm sorry to hear about loss of your best friend, Bailey. I know how hard it is
to take a loss like this one because we lost our best friend,a 14 year-old Corgi Penelope on Dec.23 last year. She was fighting against breast cancer.
I'm sure Bailey will miss you just as much as you do and she will be peacefully rested.
man, this is sad news buddy, sorry as heck, I have lost my buddy Cruiser in the past, and it is not good., time will be your friend, and wishing you heartfelt condolenses.
I should scan an old 4x6 so you can see what a great dog he was., some day I will., he was a chocolate lab.
