CR-v3 Batteries from Wal-Mart for a Pentax ist *D body... the right batteries, for the right camera - but they didn't fit (there's a weird tab on the battery compartment)...
31.99$ worth of batteries that got tossed in the trash. AA's work just fine. baaa humbug.
Two sample books from Zookbinders. I made the mistake of not converting them to sRGB prior to submission, which resulted in some very nasty-looking books.
1) Brides.com - I blew money on advertising and never received an email much less a phone call.
2) Phone book advertising for commercial work. No phone calls.
3) 20mm 2.8 straight lens. I still haven't found a purpose for it.
4) Easeus Data Recovery - Recoverd about 10% of my files. Luckily, I always keep the orginals and I just had to start over.

If you want good, cool light, it can't come directly from the camera unless it is a Ring Flash. If something is coming off of the camera it will give the paparazzi look (which is cool for certain situations) and that is it. The lighting will be flat when it comes off of the camera.
I love the 24-70L 2.8 lens! I pretty much shoot it either at f/9 ish, or at receptions wide open (where it does not need to be sharp) and it always gives great results and great color. It is not that sharp though when wide open. This was shot on that lens at around f/5.6 or so. No Photoshop or any major adjustments.
135/2.8 Thought it would be a great portrait lens...too long. Also, with the 5d, it's so light on the front end that it's hard to handhold steady. Luckily I can still use it on a tripod for some corporate work, so not a total waste.
Does the album I downloaded from itunes that I already owned count?
I'll 2nd Google Adwords . . . nada, zip zilch from that. Wasn't a whole lot, but $50 adds up quick after a while.
Quickbooks Merchant Service. Probably by far one of the worst experiences I've EVER had with a company, especially one that handles money coming in and out of my account. Still trying to get $125 back that they stole from me . . . just awful.
Interesting comments here. My 24-70/2.8 is superb. I'm really surprised at that one.
As for me, worst purchase would have to be Microsoft Money software and an 82mm SMC UV filter for my 16-35/2.8. The filter itself is ok, its just impossible to keep clean and I'm not sure I even need the thing.
Kata backpack style camera bag. Wonderfully made, of course. Just useless as a 'working' case. Unless I start shooting from my but*, equipment behind me has little value.
Problem with google ads is even if you choose to only appear with specific searches they will still show your ad on sites with google advertising and guess what? because you are photography related you ad isn't appearing on wedding sites but photography sites so all the amateur photographers who think it will be cool to see a pro site come to visit, at you expense.
I bought two waterproof camera bags that can hold a lot less than advertised. Now they take up space in our room. Basically one can hold my 5D with one lens on it, one or two lenses in a pocket, and a flash. But I carry a lot more with me now.
Right now we are trying to figure out how the sunpak 120J we just bought was reconfigured by the original owner-- there's no household plug or ANY place ot hook up a Pocket wizard. So basically I'm stuck using my 580EXII with my pocketwizards until I figure that one out. Need to buy the minphone to hotshoe, but I'd rather have a real cord...
I bought an extra miniphone-PC cord not realizing one came with each PW. Duh. I'm returning it, though, so it's the shipping that's irritating. Still irritated that I have a miniphone-MH1 cord that is FOR a sunpak 120J but won't connect to ours =(. And i had it rush shipped so I could use it this weekend. Oh well...
Best purchases? Almost Alone with David Williams Workshop, PWs, umbrellas, 12' avenger lightstands, lighting equipment, various books (haven't regretted any books). Lots and lots of memory and batteries (will never regret these purchases), 30D (thanks Lucky_Dog!) -- I don't use it, but it's nice knowing I have something better than a Rebel Xt as a backup.

You can opt out of those content network searches.
My worst would have to be a cp-11a? battery charger for my 5D. I thought I left mine up in new york a few months back so I called the hotel, got them to look for me, tore apart my room and came up with nothing.
After milking the juice out of my three batterys, enough was enough, I had to have a charger so I hit the buy/sell and grabbed one. A week after I got mine I found my old, original one under the bed

Sorry to laugh but that is a funny story
In my college days I was living off of Ramen noodles. Each month my grandparents would send me a $100 money order to survive. One month I lost the money order (and I didn't want to bother them by asking for more money). Come to find out several months later I used it as a book marker. Goes to show you I didn't read that book often
