This may be old news to some of you, but I just installed Adobe Camera RAW 5.2 and found a jewel on the Camera Calibration tab in the Elements RAW editor

You'll have to go into it to really see the effect, but changing the picture style alters the color cast, saturation, etc. -like switching from one brand of film to another...
Here's why it's such a big deal: In the past you could use a picture style and Elements would read the data in the RAW file and display the photo correctly. But there was no easy way to change it (the only way I know of is to open the RAW file in DPP, change the picture style, save the RAW file, and then re-open the image in Elements). So I just left my camera set to neutral and made all of my edits in post. Now you can select the picture style in Elements and choose the one that best reflects how you want the image to look...

Here's a good example of the difference that being able to choose a picture style can make. This first shot is my best attempt at editing the image without picture style support in Elements:

I have been using the beta styles in Lightroom for a while, and I was amazed at the difference when I started using them. Depending on the shot, the various styles can really change the colors and contrast of the shot. As I have never used canon's software, I did not realize what I was missing out on by using LR.

Too bad i dont like CS4 alot. My gfx card is not very powerful and CS4 really needs a decent one. I'm just updating Lightroom to 2.2 though, it has the same feature(s).
I really hated the results Lightroom gave me compared to DPP. Hope it's fixed

Jason
The funny thing Jason is that the picture styles seem to change the color and contrast in ways that can't be done using the contrast, saturation, vibrancy, and temperature sliders on the main page of the RAW editor...

John, there is the Camera Calibration tab that can be used for these types of adjustments. I had Red -10, +10, Blue -10, +15 in LR v1.4, if I remember correctly. I'm now a happy user of LR v2.2
For ultimate IQ DPP is still a little better, but for a dwindling number of images. Also, LR is a couple of lightyears ahead of DPP, work-flow wise.
