Well, I got it changed, but now the first shot is second and the second shot is first.
Oh well, you can tell which has both the upper and lower fall.

The first shot gives more of a feel for the grand size of the feature. The second one connects me to it a little more personally. I'm having trouble deciding which I prefer.
My nit with them would be that these beg for a different sky. Pretty solid white on the left two-thirds.
Yep. I prefer #1 for the same reason as t-bone. Nice images. Too bad the sky didn't open up a little more for the darker/blue background. Good scan and conversion to B&W.
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement.
As a strictly non-techie slide shooter, all this scanning/Photoshop stuff is a mystery. Conversion to black and white will no doubt be yet another. Oh well.

First shot for sure Charlie. I would have voted for a bit less contrast (kind of counter to most in the forum). I would like to see a bit more detail in the trees. Just me, do what your idea of the shot seems right. Nice comps BTW.
Tim,
I plead guilty to liking contrast (Kodachrome underexposed by 25%, etc.) so the contrast pretty much came with the scan. In trying to get rid of some of it with the conversions, I decided I don't mind negative space, either (actually, I've known that for a long time).
