Some shots with the 50G Christmas day. This is the only lens I used all day - love it. I suspect that the Sigma may indeed be smoother, but mine is still not in. Still, I absolutely love the 50G's size - it's perfect. The Sigma will have to be really good to get me to stop using the 50G.
The more I look at the flickr stream for the old 50 f/1.2 AIS the more I just want them to bite the bullet and release an AF-S version of it If it saves money for the buyer I don't even care if they revise the optics.

Those are some nice photos, Sam. I'm looking forward to your test shots. Although I'm happy with the sigma and will keep it, I'm not all that sure that it's really apt to be significantly different or better than the new nikon. I may be wrong, but it seems likely to me that the differences are likely to be more esoteric than significant.
And a bonus crop. This is pretty damn good for being so far out from the middle. With D700 @ f/1.4. Check out details of the little coins (or medals?) on the logo!
