A set of images taken yesterday at a play field nearby. I was captivated by the quotidian feel of the site (in an urban, industrial area, with a neighborhood behind it, a big stand of woods to one side) and yet the low lying fog that covered it, the geese all around it, and the cry of hawks that came from the woods. I had on a 50mm 1.8 again and decided to go for it. The BW conversion I felt captured best the combination of those elements above.
Eric, thank you so much for the kind words about these shots. I truly like the geese also. They just decided to pick up and fly away, they were quick about it so I shot almost from the hip. What captured me as I drove by was precisely that mood that the low lying fog set. It was one of those moving fogs. It moved hither and yon in the field. The kind of fog that when you are in the midst of it, it doesn't seem foggy. It moves away from you and now you see it somewhere else. Can't quite chase it!
Thanks folks. I do like that number 3 a lot also. T-bone, the field unfortunately was pretty wet, so no playing out there that time! Not to mention that the Geese had done a number on the baseball diamond. The green color in the original was as much droppings as grass!
