I took this shot in a little remote Berbere village in the Atlas mountains of Morocco.
I walked into this house that was used as a so called restaurant; crates on a dirt floor where used as tables and chairs. These 3 men invited me to have lunch with them.
It was was the first real field test for the 50D, this image was shot at 1600 iso
The window light is excellent! Whew, what passes for a restaurant!
Interesting clothing, too. The two men on the outsides are very traditional looking, while the middle man appears to have on a name-brand type coat.
Did you sit with them and share conversation? How was that for you?
Thanks for the comment, yes I did sit down with them, I had a cup of mint tea while they where sharing their lunch plate, a Tagine. They were attending the village market and were having lunch together before going home. In these parts of Morocco, men are doing the shopping not the women. Sometimes they have to walk for hours pulling their donkeys to buy food for the family.
I am really glad that you shared a little commentary with the image. I always wonder how people get these types of images with locals or the such. It is like me seeing a small window into their lives, and what they do in their little village. The window lighting is a really nice touch here, but it does look like its a little blown out on the far left. However great image. Really makes me feel at home.
Beauty. The images really tells a story. So nice that there isn't anything incongrous, like a Yankees ball cap or anything along those lines. Well seen and captured.
That shot is why cameras were invented as it tells a story that no amount of words could ever convey. Superb shot and I hope it brings you memories for the rest of your life.
This is very well done, the light as mentioned by others before truly stands out. Textures are also rewarding, especially those on the clothes (coats). Some of the details, such as steam coming off the dish or the bread crumbs, help getting into the moment shared with these locals and provide the atmosphere with unquestionable consistency.
