I'm excited about a new WordPress blog theme for photographers called ProPhoto2 that I've been beta testing the last several weeks. It's now about to be released (coinciding with WordPress version 2.7 next week), so I can finally talk about it!
The theme is really cool. It allows you to change just about anything about the look and feel of the blog including moving the navbar, logo, slideshow header and customizing all the colors to your liking, all without having to know any code.
Another neat thing is that once you have a layout that you like, you can save it as a template. If you want to change the look and feel again, you can do that and then easily go back to your first layout (for example, if you wanted to deck out your blog for Christmas or something).
You can see the theme in action on my site here. Play around to get a feel of all that it can do and keep in mind that virtually anything you see can be customized
I've paid a lot of money for a custom blog in the past and it had less features than the ProPhoto2 theme, didn't look as good and came with worse support. Plus, I was totally locked into the look and feel of my old custom blog because it could not be changed without paying more money to the designer. With ProPhoto2, I can easily change the look whenever I want, or just 'set it and forget it'.
There's a cool tutorial video here which explains a lot of things you can do with this new theme:
I thought I would share this as it's probably the best blog theme for photographers interested in blogging their photos. I'm even using it as my main website because I believe a photo blog (with links to your portfolio gallery) is more powerful than just a gallery website.
