So whats your answer for "so how far does that thing zoom?"

"Until it stops".

Or if I'm using my 300mm: "it doesn't"!

My favourite is "How far can you see with that thing?" My usual reply is "I can see over there..."

I would like the 400 f/2.8 but I really like to shoot handheld so in a compromise I think the 400 DO lens would be the perfect lens to extend my reach beyond 300, especially since it is supposed to handle the 1.4TC so well. I wish there were a 500mm DO lens really.

400 F2.8 for me as that is probably the only lens that I would have a use for that I can not afford. Others on my wishlist are the 200 f2.8 IS, 135 F2 and the 200 F2 IS. Oh, it's nice to dream............

Which would you choose?

Don't get excited though, lol I am not giving away any lenses, I am just curious as to which people would choose.

this is a no brainer question. I would choose the most expensive one like the 800mmL, so i can sell it and get 5 other "L" lenses on my list.

So the 1200 f/?.? is an option? I'll take the f/1.0 version of it please, and a truck and motorized mount to carry it on.

Heh. My first thought as soon as I saw the topic title.

I'd have to have a play with it first though. Trouble being I have no tripod that will hold it so it'll have to be handheld. Anyone got any experience handholding the 1200?

That's what I'm talking about! Of course, owning one of the dozen or so in existence may be worth it in and of itself...

I believe it actually comes with its own custom-designed tripod.

I've got most of the ones I want, but I wouldn't mind the 800 f/5.6L IS and although it's not L the TS-E 90 should be and I'd like that too.

I just received one of my dream lenses, 85L F1.2 II !

My second one would either be the 300mm F2.8 or the 400 F2.8.

I will be getting a 300mm F2.8 once I need it for field sports. But maybe I will win the lottery and be able to get the 400.

I have my kit together, for the most part. I will eventually add the 135L, which I can afford. The 300 2.8 is an incredible lens, which I would say would be my dream L. But just when I think about how expensive it is, I remind myself how much a divorce attorney would charge!
