p.1 #1 · A great photo printer to buy - any suggestions?

I have been looking to purchase a pigment ink printer. I am considering an Epson R1900 or HP B8850. Does anyone have good/bad reviews on these models?

it's expensive...

I have the R800. It's a workhorse. I like that the nozzles can take the pigment, had no issues with them clogging up.

But man... the ink is expensive.

+1 for R800 but with CIS (continues ink system) works like a charm...

I use an HP B9180. Clients love the prints every time. I like the fact that it's paid for itself several times over.

Ink is expensive? Factor it into the cost of the print, same as paper, packaging, etc.

If I had to do it over again, I'd get the B9180 again. Not a single problem and by now over a year of service.

Great, thanks for the comments. I love to get the 3800 john, but lack of funds. Since most of the epson printers are approx. 11ml cart and the hp printers are 27ml cart I am torn between the two.

So RafalA, is there a great deal diff between 8850 and 9180?
