What fantastic images everyone. These "best of" threads are always my favourite, so much photographic goodness in one place! Well the year is not over yet so I hope to get some more good images.

My favourite of the year was my very first post on FM after being a long time lurker. This was very special to me because I was out looking to get a shot of a hummer in action and after much patience I witnessed this momma land on her nest, which incidently I didn't realize was there until she landed on it because

So much great shots, I almost feel unworthy to post . I've been doing scenics for years, I have only started doing wildlife in about the past month or so. Part of the problem was I lived in Hawaii, not much wild life here . But I just moved to California and there are a lot of places to go from there. So I am still learning how to shoot animals at this point. I had some great shots from the zoo but thats cheating, here is the best I've done in the Wild this year.

an excellent shot, and

Nice images everyone. Haven't posted in a while but I thought I'd put one up to contribute to the site that got me hooked on this hobby and taught me a few things along the way. Favorite, not best, because this was one of the last images of a family of three GHOs I followed this past summer and was taken with stacked TCs (1.4x and 2x). Mostly happy that I got it to turn out as well as it did given the conditions but I also liked the perch and single visible talon.

Good stuff out there. My year was more work than play. However, I did get out for the fall migration - here is one of my favourites.

Wow, there is some great stuff taken by forum members... incredibly inspirational... Haven't posted on this forum before, although have lurked for some time. Don't shoot wildlife that often, but this thread is the perfect opportunity for me to jump in and finally put an image up (not easy, given the standard being set!). Very difficult to choose, but if pressed to nominate one for the year, this must be it.

Greg,
Nice composition. Has a wide angle feel to it. What lens were you using?
