Thanks for yet another comment, Yakim, my friend! Thanks to your suggestion, I tried all sorts of other crops on that but unfortunately, none of them work. There just isn't enough breathing room otherwise. Feel free to mess with it yourself if you want, but unless I've missed something, I think you'll find that I'm right.
Warm regards,
Endre

Hi Endre,
The theme is 'Rounded', not 'Curved'. Crop the second one, make sure the reflection is still in the pic, and you've got yourself a winner. Simple, no?
Thanks, Bill! I appreciate your comment. However, I don't know which picture is the "second" one any longer. Do you mean the one that is now second that used to be first or the one that is now first that used to be second?
All best wishes,
Endre

The second pic is 'stronger' I think and more towards the theme.

Give me a couple of seconds whilst I figure that out. I mean the one that looks like your avatar.

I like both of the shots so much I have a hard time deciding which I like better. I love the symmetry of the shot you posted first and the subtle play between the violin and it's reflection. This second shot that you now have posted really shows off the craftsmanship of Strad, and does fit the theme a bit better. A tough choice, but either way I think you have a winner.
Endre,
In my opinion this second image (present post) is much better. It holds much more visual interest for me.
Beautiful shot. Love the wooden pegs, too!

Hello Endre,
I like this entry(2nd) better than your first one too. The carved wood scroll along with the wood thumb screws show so much beautiful detail. The lighting is better in the second one, in my opinion. The reflection is super. Very nice work, a strong entry for sure.

You haven't learned from posting two shots yet? You confuse the hell out of us all by having to decide in such circumstances!!! I like the Second one. Probably one of my favorites of all the shots you took of your instrument. Lovely work again.
Thanks for the second comment, Steve. I know you really liked the first posted shot so I was concerned as to how you'd like the newer one. I'm glad you also feel that it fits the WA topic even better.
All best wishes,
Endre

Thanks for the cropping suggestion, Yakim. I must admit that particular crop was not one I tried. I can't honestly say I agree with your cropping for a number of reasons. 1.) I tend, whenever possible (and this applies to most photos) to want to keep my photos with an 8 x 10 or 11 x 14 aspect ratio. It doesn't always work, but it has to be really absolutely necessary for me to deviate from that. In this particular case, I don't care for the sliver-like cropping. 2.) The shot has to work as art for me to post it. The cropping you did, looks to me more like a study of the scroll rather than an artwork that can stand on its own and be beautiful, independent of the WA topic. 3.) By cropping it like that, you cut off all the other "rounded" elements - namely, the rounded pegs, the round peg ends, the round decorative buttons on the ends of the pegs, and the rounded bushings. 4.) For me, the negative space in a shot is sometimes as important as the subject itself.
I think, for hose reasons, I will stick with this version but, again, I appreciate the thought.
I like the photo with the scroll better in terms of fitting the theme. Both are exceptional though. I like your technique. The light is fantastic and the strength of the reflection is perfect.
Hmmm... I think I shall have to contemplate this very carefully.
All the best,
Endre

Endre,
This is very nice, but I've attached an image here that I think is more appropriate.
Please REPLACE your present image with this one.
Thanks, Carrol! I think that one is the one that will stay. The pegs are made of Ironwood, which is extremely hard.
All the best,
Endre
