Re: #321 Strad's Scroll

Thanks for the cropping suggestion. I must admit that particular crop was not one I tried. I can\'t honestly say I agree with your cropping for a number of reasons. 1.) I tend, whenever possible (and this applies to most photos) to want to keep my photos with an 8 x 10 or 11 x 14 aspect ratio. It doesn\'t always work, but it has to be really absolutely necessary for me to deviate from that. In this particular case, I don\'t care for the sliver-like cropping. 2.) The shot has to work as art for me to post it. The cropping you did, looks to me more like a study of the scroll rather than an artwork that can stand on its own and be beautiful, independent of the WA topic. 3.) By cropping it like that, you cut off all the other \"rounded\" elements - namely, the rounded pegs, the round peg ends, the round decorative buttons on the ends of the pegs, and the rounded bushings. 4.) For me, the negative space in a shot is sometimes as important as the subject itself.

I think, for hose reasons, I will stick with this version but, again, I appreciate the thought.

Warm regards,

Endre

Hi Endre,

As a picture that stands for itself, I indeed don\'t think it can be improved by cropping. However, as a picture with an emphasis on the theme, I think it might. What do you think?

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
