;-)
This applies to most members on this board.... "Rokkors"... "Zeiss"... "Leica"... and a few other cult versions of various focal lengths are worshipped here..... one gets used to it and eventually joins the cult
As far as the OP.... while I was shooting Canon, I had / still have spares of the Contax N lenses - zooms and primes.... Also have/had spares for the OM primes like the 90mm f2.0, 500mm f8.0, 50mm f1.2, 24mm f3.5 PC, 35mm f2.8 PC, etc.... spares of the entire Olympus Macro setup including the 21mm, 38mm, 80mm, 135mm, two sets of spare OM bellows, 2x 65-116 auto tube. Most spares are still brand new in the box.... all of which are up for sale as I am switching my "cult" status now
There are some lenses that are simply unique and extremely hard to find..... having a spare of your favorite lens only keeps you one step ahead if you damage one or if one of the copies gets stolen.

I am bad for this too... I have a few dup's in the CZ line, fast 50's etc... Usually stuff that I use a lot or it is rare and hard to replace. I am down to one 21mm though, it was tearful to let that brand new one; in the box, go

The only spare I have is a Nikkor 50 mm f1.8 pancake 3rd generation. I bought a copy and it was a sleeper. The aperture and focus rings were loose and lots of play. However the image quality was excellent. So I make that a working model and bought one more in better shape as a "collection" model.
I can foresee doing some of that to the Rokkor collection.

Next week I'll be getting a few spares from a good friend who is no longer interested in photography... like 100 & 180 APO, 400mm & 560mm f/6.8 Telyts, extension tubes, an APO extender, an E60 p-circ and the 100's dedicated ELPRO. All (except the ELPRO) will be backups in case of loss, damage or when my primary lens needs service.

This will sound stupid, but I have two copies - very good copies - of the Oly 28 f3.5, still a $50-100 lens on eBay - ain't never let go of 'em, either -

I have backup for camera/glass items that are important or hard-to-find: two CZ P50/1.4 C/Y, three 'cron-M 35 pre-ASPH, three Contax T rangefinders and three RTS III SLRs. I guess an additional CZ D28/2.8 and S100 C/Y wouldn't hurt.

a/d/s/ & alpine - hellyeah. ;-) Love that old stuff.
I end up with spares but generally try to unload the extras. Usually it's a matter of trying to acquire something, and ending up with more than one (e.g. winning several ebay auctions at once or something).
