p.1 #1 · Icon alert - The Washerwoman

I hope some will enjoy my rendition of this icon of the southwest-- The Washerwoman viewed from Mesa Arch at sunrise. For those who may be interested, the technical details are Canon 5D, 24-105 F4.5, IS L lens, Tripod and mirror lockup. f22 @ 1/15 sec zoom=75 mm ISO 200.

For those (few?) who don't know, Mesa Arch is located in the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park, about 1/2 mile from the road. This picture was shot in early October of this year and there were 20 other photographers, give or take, arrayed in front of the arch that morning. As the sunrise develops, the bottom of the arch glows a fiery orange and the washerwoman is revealed. Still, one is lucky to just to see this special natural spectacle.

Criticism and other thoughtful comments are most welcome.

It's an interesting shot, but the problem I have with it is the tangents... The hanging rock on top-left is tangent with the distant upper ridge on the left. The cliff line in the middle seems to run together and the washer woman is directly centered on the distant butte.

It's a good try to get something different, but if you are going to include part of the bottom of the arch, you need to include more to make it feel a part of the shot. The glow on it by itself seperates it from the scene, so unless it's physically connected some way by the compositon, it feels out of place.
