Thanks for the files. I opened the biggie (ISO 25600) up and noise was the same in DPP, PSCS4 and C1. Did not use any of my noise programs on it but it looked doable noise ware wise.

Thanks again,

I noticed quite a bit of NR was added on the raw in DPP

Yes it did but I backed off to see how it looked and yup, there it all was (noise). That is a pretty tough shot for any camera noise wise but a good test in tough conditions. Quite a bit of chroma and banding.

What software do you need to view these with? Regular Canon DPP does not seem to do the trick, unless i am missing something.

go to canon site, there is a upgrade for DPP, I found it under the 5d2 downloads
On the 25,600 - a real difficult image with the wide range of intensities.
Used ACR 5.2. Tried my normal Noise Ninja, then Noiseware. To my surprise Noiseware did significantly better on it. This would make a fairly acceptable 4 by 6 inch or maybe 5 by 7 inch.

Maybe is just me but none of the images impress me at all. It seems the 24-105 on the 5dmk2 is outresolved. Pity as mine is very sharp on my 5d and 1dmk3.
Also the noise is pretty similar with 1dsmk3 nowhere near one stop better. Again canon marketing at work (remember the 50d?).
What I find disturbing is the extreme CA and noise even at iso200. The CA is nowhere near that bad on my 24-105 so is definitely the sensor.
I am starting to wonder if I really want a 5dmk2 !? (yes I know more for the others)

can someone please convert the RAW files and post them here. I am really interested in seeing the noise performance.
Just download and install dpp 3.5.1 and see for yourself. That is much better you can set the file the way you like. Looking at the samples I've seen so far I think I'll skip the 5dmk2. But will see once real reviews come out.
